Fawnridge Farm

...from nursery to the track

Fawnridge is a full-care facility nestled quietly in the peaceful countryside of a rural village overlooking the Berkshires. Fawnridge is located in Rensselaer County, New York near the hamlet of East Nassau (20 miles east of the city of Albany). We are central to the region's largest tracks - Belmont, Aqueduct, and Saratoga, as well as the Fingerlakes. Our location is also central to all stallion stations north and south of us.

Our primary function is caring for expectant mares, birthing their foals and rearing them to be ready for track training. We are very conscious of the special needs of these mares and their young. Each of them is taken care of with their individuality in mind.

Your Horses, Our Care.

Fawnridge prides itself by caring for your horses with attention to diet and exercise. All are given the proper supplements required for each stage of their growth and performance. On a daily basis the stalls are cleaned, all horses groomed and checked for any injury that they may have received. All cuts and abrasions are treated immediately by our staff. No horse on our farm is ever left in a field. Exercise is everyday. Our turn-out schedule is dictated by the needs of your horse and the changing weather conditions.

Our Facilities

Fawnridge offers 30 stalls that have superior ventilation. Large 3' x 3' windows and full screen meshed doors finish out each 12' x 12' stall. The barn aisles are spacious and breezy. The foaling stalls are 24' x 12' and camera monitored. Every mare is attended to before, during and after the foaling process.

The rolling hills at Fawnridge offer all horses an exercise program that keeps them in shape for foaling and helps strengthen the young foals. The yearlings and two-year-olds benefit as well from this type of exercise. It helps to develop them for their future training. We have run-in sheds in some pastures for the added protection from the weather. All pastures and paddocks are managed, being mowed and dragged as needed.

Our Motto

Our motto "...from nursery to the track" indicates our flexibility. We can take a new foal on to the position of being ready for the rigorous training at the track. We encourage our clients to start their young animals here, a real cost saving method for them. The foals at Fawnridge are "in training" from the minute they are born. They are handled professionally from that day forward. They are worked as individuals, for no two are alike. We teach them patiently and peacefully, giving them the necessary basics to be ready for their track training.

It has been commented, time and time again, that horses from our farm are easily managed. We, at Fawnridge, are proud of such an accomplishment. You, the owner, are ensured that your horse(s) will be content and happy. You'll see it in their eyes, their coats, their manageability and their peacefulness. Our commitment is to give special care to your horse -- our goal is to raise you a race horse.
